OneDrive: General Configuration

Use the guidance on this page to verify that your OneDrive desktop application is installed, open, and active. If the OneDrive desktop application is not installed, open, and active, any work you perform on Microsoft Office files in the associated desktop application (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.) will not sync with the files stored in your OneDrive and any changes you make will not save.

Confirm that OneDrive is synced with your File Explorer:

  • Open your NYSERDA device File Explorer and look for the following drive:

  • Syncing should occur automatically whenever OneDrive is installed and running.
  • Proceed to step 2 below even if you see the drive. If your OneDrive has synced in the past but is not running currently. The drive will still be visible, it just won’t be updated. If you do not see the drive, it should appear after following the guidance in step 2 below.

Confirm that the OneDrive application is installed and running:

  • Look for the OneDrive icon either in your System Tray (upward facing arrow) or as separate icon on your Task Bar .

  • If you see the OneDrive icon in either location, then it is both installed and running.
  • If you DO NOT see the OneDrive icon, proceed to step 3 below.

Confirm that OneDrive is installed on your NYSERDA device:

  • Search for and open the OneDrive application from the Start Menu
  • If you located and opened OneDrive, confirm that the icon appears in either location as described in step 2 above and proceed to step 4 below.
  • If you cannot locate or open OneDrive, submit a Service Desk Ticket to inform IT of the problem so that it can be resolved.

Confirm that OneDrive is set to Open on Login:

  • Open OneDrive so the icon is visible in your Task Bar or System Tray.
  • Right-click the OneDrive icon and select Settings .
